SelfCheck is led by one named person, who both set its evidential rules and wrote the system that applies them.

Why this product exists in this form

The design question behind SelfCheck is not a technical one. Verifying a signature is a solved problem with published standards and free implementations. The unsolved problem is evidential: what a given file is capable of proving, what a professional may properly assert on the strength of it, and how to express an answer so that it survives being read by someone who is looking for its weaknesses.

That question comes from more than a decade of professional work in law and lawmaking — drafting, and being answerable for the precision of what was drafted.

Every rule the product runs on follows from that work. The grade precedes the test because a conclusion drawn from an instrument the material cannot support is worthless in front of a tribunal. The scope statement is written in the register of a witness statement because that is where it has to hold. The word forgery is absent because attributing intent is a finding for a court. Nobody arrives at those constraints from the engineering side; they are what the drafting discipline looks like when it is turned into software.

The same person built it

The classification model, the decision policy, the assessment pipeline, the container that runs the forensic work, the account and access model, the machine interface and this site were designed and written by the founder. There is no separate technical team interpreting a specification, which is why the evidential rules and the code agree with each other.

What that means in practice is that a rule can be argued about and changed in the same afternoon: the policy version on every assessment names the exact ruleset that produced it, so a change is visible in the record rather than silently applied to it.

The operating company is in the course of being incorporated; until it exists, no contract is offered or concluded through this site, and the data controller is a named individual rather than a company.
